H&M Goes High End: Marni, Versace, Anna-Dell-Russo – Spring/Summer 2012

H & M stands for Hennes & Mauritz AB (operating as H&M),  which a a Swedish retail clothing store. It is known for it’s trendy fast fashion – and it is becoming more trendy with their continuous collaboration with high end designers and fashion icons in recent years.

Why the collaboration with between affordability and high end designers? Designers can build awareness of their brand by marketing to a larger clientele – which is also a growing market. People want designer brands for less, not just anything for less. This can be represented by the rise in stocks in off-price chain stores -such as T.JMaxx. Possibly with the implentation of bloggers, and fashion for less, fast fashion has stirred up a passion for fashion for the mass; in which fashion is not just or the “rich” – but for everyone. It is within reach and affordable. When these designers create a limited amount for an affordable price, it becomes an even better marketing scheme.

Marni for H&M

Women’s Wear

“According to Marni designer Consuelo Castiglioni, “I wanted to create a true Marni wardrobe by revisiting all our favorite pieces in signature fabrics and prints. As always, I love juxtaposing prints and colours, mixing modern tribal with Bauhaus graphic adding sporty utilitarian elements.”

Women’s Wear

As soon as H&M asked me to collaborate, I knew that I wanted to do an iconic collection, and I knew that I wanted to do a collection that was relevant to fashion today. I selected all of the iconic moments that also say something about fashion right now, and which will give the young generation to wear the icons of Versace in their own personal style.

Anna Dell Russo for H & M

am excited by this collaboration: this is the first time H&M involves a Fashion Director in a special project. This is the sign of an important evolution in fashion, and I am both thrilled and humbled to be the one chosen to lead it. I wanted to create precious accessories that are impossible to find. As a stylist I know accessorization is essential: it is the personal touch to any outfit. With these pieces everybody can have fun, turning an ordinary day into a fantastic fashion day,” said Dello Russo in a statement from H&M
