Marc Jacob under scrutiny from CFDA
Marc Jacobs decided to go against the CFDA(Council of Fashion Designers of America) model guidelines by allowing two girls under the age of 16 to model for him.According to the CFDA, girls must be 16 to model, but Marc Jacobs had two 14 year old girls walk in his show last week.
However, because the guidelines are “suggestions” and not rules, Jacobs decided to ignore them and run his show the way he wants.
He told the New York Times:
“I do the show the way I think it should be and not the way somebody tells me it should be. If their parents are willing to let them do a show, I don’t see any reason that it should be me who tells them that they can’t…There are children actors and children models for catalogs and stuff, so I guess if a parent thinks it’s O.K. and a kid wants to do it, it’s fine.”
